March 2024 Reba's and Rides

Image
It's May in OKC and it is warming up nice.  We checked out a "new to us" restaurant and it was very good.  We will probably make another trip back to Reba's.   I took a quick trip to Florida to celebrate dad's 80th birthday.  We had a great visit, the weather was wonderful, and I got to visit with friends in the park. Ken and I took a bike trip to Medicine Park, OK.  We ate good food and got to see the bison and long horns.  The last time we were here it was SO HOT and none of the animals were out. May was also the month of our first poker run of the season.  This was a new group and the fundraiser supports a family with leukemia.  John and Tammy joined us for the ride.  The dinner after was fried ribs.  The ribs were very good.     Things are starting to get busy now that the weather is warming up.  Just need to get through storm season.

1/2024 Michigan & More

We had some really cold days so Ken made a fire. This was the beginning of a really nice evening.   Every Adventure Dreamz post must have food. The top photos are from a local OKC restaurant called Crab Town .  The food and the service were amazing. The bottom photos are from the Chef of the Year Banquet in Michigan. I went back to Michigan for the Chef of the Year banquet.  Phil and the team did an stupendous job.  We had shredded brisket, white truffle and Gruyere cheese stuffed in risotto balls and fried. Next was octopus carpaccio with grapefruit that I could have eaten as a main course.  The entrĂ©e was slow roasted pork shank with smoked polenta.   The fat on the shank was the best part, it so crunchy.   The finish was a honey panna cotta. The next event was my God Son's last high school musical. It amazes me how far this young man has come. He is a natural on the stage and he makes it look so easy.    Then it was off to something new for me. I watched my nephew and his daug

November & December 2023

I have totally dropped the ball where the blog is concerned.   So this will be a two month download. There is nothing better than setting with your man in a hunting blind. The wild life put on a great show but there were no deer to be found. I have learned one thing, I can't cook and take pictures at the same event. We had some new additions at this years family event.   I had some down time and walked around half of the OKC zoo.  It was a beautiful day and all the animals were out.  The doe was very friendly because she had been raised by a farmer and I think people were giving her treats at the fence.  I will be getting a membership for the zoo.  There is so much to see. In December we found our way out to the hunting camp a couple times. It is a beautiful place no matter how cold it is. Ken asked me what I wanted for my birthday.  I told him I wanted to see Christmas lights.  So we met up with John and Tammy for a Christmas party at the Indian Bike Shop in OKC.  They had a turke

October 2023 Albuquerque Balloon Fiesta

Image
Our first day at the Balloon Fiesta set the stage for the fun that was to come. As you can see the rig in the picture is not mine.  I took mine in to have some things fixed and while it was in the shop the fuel pump went out.  Other than the cost of renting a rig I was glad this didn't happen during the trip. We were up at 4:00am to arrive at the field for our hot air balloon ride.  The ride was amazing and the landing was easy but the best part was exchanging rings and vows with this amazing guy. We were on the field that morning to see the drone show, dawn patrol, fly over, singing of the national anthem and to see the pilots do a candle stick burn.  The red arrow shows where the rig was parked. We had free days and took a few trips to the Sandia  Mountains.  The first trip was a smooth twisting road, the second was a narrow, rocky dirt road.  That is where we found the cave.  The cage you see is the entrance to the cave.  The third way we seen the mountain was a tram ride to t

September 2023

"The car will still run if you let the engine cool down" That quote is from my dad.  Maybe someday I will let the engine cool down, but for now, I'll keep rolling. September is Ken's birthday month and we celebrated all month!! We took a HOT ride to Medicine Park, OK. The plan was to drive to the top of Mt. Scott to see the sunset but it was so hot even the animals were hiding out of sight.  We tried on Sunday but they closed the park due to heat.  We did get to see some beautiful places and eat some great food and hope to go back when the weather is cooler. We got back from Medicine Park and I hit the road for Texas.  I promised Ember I would do something with her for her birthday (her birthday was in August).  She was fine with a late trip to Great Wolf Lodge.  Hard to believe this girl is 9. Back to OKC to help Ken clean up the property where he hunts.  It is so beautiful out there.  I mowed lots of weeds while he cut branches off the deer paths.  We also did a lit
