September 2021 Mackinaw, MI

This trip touched my soul and taught me a few things.
It was amazing!

I stayed at the Quality Inn in Saint Ignace.  The room was amazing
and the staff were very friendly. 


I went to Hessel to check out Les Cheneaux Culinary School but 
they were not open.


This house was on an island across from the dock.


My first dinner was fish tacos at Joe's Cantina.
These were my first fish tacos and the flavor was 
great but the breading was mushy.  The margarita was amazing.


My first morning was a little foggy but it made for some great photos.

I found Straits State Park.  I loved everything about
this park.  They have a bridge overlook, campground
and a beautiful beach.




I would love to see The Tunnel of Trees with more fall color.
There could be another road trip before I leave.



While on The Tunnel of Trees I found the Sally Stebbins Nature Preserve. 
It was nice to get out and stretch my legs.




I wanted some white fish dip and it looked like Johnnie's on 2 could fix me up.
It hit the spot and the burger was good also.

down on US 2.

The sunrise was not wonderful but it was the start to a great day.


I decided to be a tourist and take the Shepler's Ferry to the island.
I got lucky and this ride took us under the bridge.

There is nothing like a seven mile walk by the water.
Little did I know, but it is 8.2 miles around the island.
I did 3.5 and turned around.

I have never eaten at the Pink Pony.
I was starving and it was very good!

Up early one more time.



Before I left I stopped by Colonial Michilimackinac Visitors Center to check out the view of the bridge.



I drove I-75 home and seen a little color.



I hope you all enjoyed my little staycation.

April started at the Arkansas Whiskey Fest. Ken had never been to anything like this. It was a well organized event with a lot of different beverages  to taste and good food to eat. John and Tammy have a beautiful back yard and the best fire pit. The big bike trip for Maywas the 5 State Run. We did the run last year and it rained and you can see by all the layers everyone has on it was rainy and cold this year.  Rain or shine the ride is always beautiful and the stops are fun also.  We already have a room booked for next year. A few pictures from home.   June is when the fun began.  I dropped Ember off at home in Texas on June 1st and I headed home.  I had a great plan to get home on Saturday, pack the rig on Sunday and head to Michigan on Monday.  That planned got changed when I got a wonderful case of food poisoning. I was able to slowly pack the rig on Monday and leave on Tuesday.   While in Michigan I was able to visit with my Uncle Bob and Linda and so many other friends.  I think

October 2023 Albuquerque Balloon Fiesta

  Our first day at the Balloon Fiesta set the stage for the fun that was to come. As you can see the rig in the picture is not mine.  I took mine in to have some things fixed and while it was in the shop the fuel pump went out.  Other than the cost of renting a rig I was glad this didn't happen during the trip. We were up at 4:00am to arrive at the field for our hot air balloon ride.  The ride was amazing and the landing was easy but the best part was exchanging rings and vows with this amazing guy. We were on the field that morning to see the drone show, dawn patrol, fly over, singing of the national anthem and to see the pilots do a candle stick burn.  The red arrow shows where the rig was parked. August 2024 - Ballons, Bike & the Great Outdoors

  I am patting myself on the back for posting the August blog before the end of September!! August was a HOT month here in Oklahoma City but that didn't stop us from having some fun. I took these photos on a different walk in the same park. We tried a new restaurant at the Grand Casino.  It is called Soto Sushi .  We weren't super hungry and decided to share a couple of plates.  The presentations were beautiful and that brown sauce was some type of beef reduction that was off the chart amazing.  We are already talking about a return trip. These are my random photos that I was not sure where to put.  The first one is from a trip to Eischen's Bar for their famous fried chicken.  I loved the way the sun set colored the building.  The Chevy Nova was in tow at the casino during the Bug Run.  I didn't get any pictures of that event because my allergies were in full touture mode and taking a lot of pictures was not high on my list.  Even though I felt awful it was a great run.
